Econetix, a global carbon asset manager specialising in high-integrity carbon credit origination and CORSIA compliance pathways, today announced the successful closing of its first CORSIA supply agreement with SCB Environmental Markets SA, a leading low-carbon commodities firm.

Beyond its significance for the global aviation sector, the transaction represents a major step in mobilising million-dollar climate investments into African project countries, supporting long-term development, environmental protection, and government-led climate strategies. The deal delivers on Econetix’s mission to originate, certify, and commercialise high-integrity carbon credits that fully comply with the requirements of CORSIA, the global aviation offsetting framework.

“This deal marks the starting point for Econetix as a leading CORSIA supplier. We have demonstrated our ability to originate, certify, and transact high-integrity carbon assets at the level and integrity the aviation market demands,” says Jakob Zenz, Founder of Econetix.

Carbon Finance as a Development Engine for Africa

Econetix is currently active in 16 African countries, working closely with national governments, environmental authorities, project developers, and key local stakeholders to structure carbon projects that meet international compliance standards while delivering tangible local benefits. The CORSIA supply agreement with SCB Environmental Markets enables millions of dollars in international climate finance to flow into African economies. These investments support nature-based solutions, community livelihoods, biodiversity protection, and the implementation of national climate strategies under the Paris Agreement, including Article 6 frameworks.

“For Africa, this is not just about carbon credits — it is about long-term investment, institutional capacity building, and predictable revenue streams for governments and local communities,”
says Paul Nimmerfall, Founder of Econetix. “Through this and upcoming CORSIA transactions, millions of dollars will flow directly into African project countries.”

From Origination to Executed CORSIA Transactions

Econetix has developed a specialised and proven capability to navigate the complex regulatory and certification processes required to bring carbon credits from African projects to full CORSIA eligibility. This includes Article 6 authorisations, Corresponding Adjustment processes, and registry labelling.

The successful execution of this transaction demonstrates that Econetix is not only capable of originating high-integrity African carbon assets but also of structuring and closing large-scale international CORSIA transactions. This positions the company among a small group of global players with both deep technical expertise and a demonstrated commercial execution track record in the multi-billion-dollar aviation carbon market.

Building a Scalable African CORSIA Supply Pipeline

Under the partnership, Econetix is advancing a portfolio of Verified Carbon Credits from Gold Standard-registered projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through the required certification pathways toward CORSIA eligibility under both the CORSIA First Phase and Second Phase programmes. These projects mark the first of several assets Econetix is advancing across its growing African CORSIA pipeline.

SCB Environmental Markets will act as sales and distribution partner, leveraging its global aviation and corporate network to connect these African-origin credits with airline buyers worldwide. Econetix is currently building a multi-million-tonne annual CORSIA supply pipeline, anchored in African projects, and is positioned to scale significantly as additional projects progress through certification.

With demand for CORSIA-eligible credits expected to reach hundreds of millions of tonnes through 2035, Econetix is building toward a multi-million-tonne supply position — reinforcing Africa’s role as a cornerstone supplier of high-integrity carbon assets to the global aviation industry.
