Meet Eng. Dan Iga: The Civil Engineer Joins Journey to the Boardroom Cohort 2026

Eng. Dan Iga, Principal Engineer (Civil) - Ministry of Works and Transport

Dan Iga is a Ugandan Civil Engineer and Project Management Professional with more than 14 years of experience in road infrastructure development, project delivery, and contract administration. He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Hons) from Makerere University.


He is a Certified Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) and is also certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He is a Registered Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and a Corporate Member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE).


Eng. Iga has served in senior technical and managerial roles within the former Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and the Ministry of Works and Transport, where he currently serves as Principal Engineer (Civil) in the Division of Road Construction and Rehabilitation. His professional expertise spans project planning and implementation, design review oversight, contract management, procurement, environmental and social safeguards compliance, claims management, and multi-stakeholder coordination on nationally strategic road development programs.


Throughout his career, he has successfully led and contributed to major infrastructure projects, including: Upgrading of Kyenjojo (Kihura) – Bwizi – Rwamwanja – Kahunge / Mpara – Bwizi Road (105 km) financed by Islamic Development Bank, Design and Build of Najjanankumbi – Busabala Road and Munyonyo Spur improvements, Upgrading of Kyenjojo – Kabwoya (100 km) financed by the World Bank under the Albertine Region Sustainable Development Project, where his leadership contributed to the lifting of a financing suspension and facilitated cost savings reinvested in additional town road improvements;


Eng. Iga is a recipient of the Presidential Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution to Uganda’s successful hosting of the NAM and G77 plus China Summits. He also previously received the Best Employee Award at UNRA. He currently serves as Chairperson of the UIPE Kampala Branch, where he provides leadership on professional practice, capacity building, and advancement of engineering standards.


He is recognized for his results-focused leadership, strong technical grounding, and commitment to delivering high-quality public infrastructure and institutional excellence.
