Airtel Uganda is now rewarding Ugandans who use “Airtel Money” through its “Vroomula Amajja” campaign. Launched on July 24, 2024, the campaign is rewarding customers and agents with various prizes, including cash and a brand-new car

The company states that the campaign is part of its efforts to encourage Ugandans to embrace a cashless economy while using Airtel Money enhancing financial management through electronic transactions.

Speaking at the Vroomula Amajja launch, Managing Director, Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda, Japhet Aritho said that Airtel Money is launching this campaign to appreciate its customers.

“We are here to say thank you and that we are grateful to our customers, through you we have been able to transform lives,” he said.

Ugandans can take part in the Vroomula Amajja by depositing or withdrawing cash, perform mobile banking, pay bills, use Airtel Money pay, transfer money internationally, or buy airtime using Airtel Money. Participants and Airtel Money agents have a chance to enter the draw for daily and monthly prizes. Prizes are credited to the winners’ Airtel Money accounts, and winners will be contacted via Airtel’s verified number, 0200100100.

“We are going to ensure that every eligible person engaged in Vroomula Amajja is given an equal chance. We shall also ensure that the winner at the end of the day is the actual person. Our role is to ensure that this process will be accurate,” they assure participants.

Japhet Aritho, Managing Director of Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda, stated during the launch, “Today, we’re igniting a movement that will turn every transaction into an opportunity, every shilling into a stepping stone towards your dreams. I am thrilled to announce the launch of VROOMULA AMAJJA – Airtel Money’s ground breaking nationwide campaign that will redefine the landscape of cashless transactions in Uganda.”

Aritho added, “Through VROOMULA AMAJJA, we’re not just changing how Ugandans transact; we’re changing lives. We’re fuelling dreams, powering ambitions, and driving the nation towards a cashless future where every transaction opens a world of possibilities.”

The campaign is expected to boost cashless transactions and digital financial inclusion. Participants will have the chance to win various prizes, including a new Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid SUV, motorbikes, and e-money. The three-month campaign, which began today in Kampala, will run for 13 weeks and offers Airtel Money customers, agents and businesses using Airtel Pay merchant codes the opportunity to win. By simply carrying out any Airtel Money transaction, participants will automatically enter daily, weekly and monthly draws.

“Forty-five (45) Ugandans, every single day, will receive a cash boost directly into their Airtel Money wallets. That is 45 families with extra money for school fees, supporting a small business, or settling other financial obligations. Additionally, nine (9) Ugandans every week will win new Boda Bodas (motorbikes), providing nine (9) families with a sustainable source of income,” Aritho explained.

“And for one fortunate Ugandan, the grand prize awaits – a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid car. A testament to how far life can change when you embrace the power of digital transactions,” he concluded.

Airtel launched mobile money in Uganda in June 2010 and is recognised as Uganda’s most innovative mobile phone operator, introducing many pioneering advancements in the telecommunications sector.
