The 3rd Annual Corporate Run has been officially launched under the theme “Run for Expectant Mothers.” This noble initiative seeks to raise awareness and mobilize resources to improve maternal health and save the lives of expectant mothers across Uganda.

This year, the Corporate Run aims to distribute at least 3,000 mama kits to mothers in the Central and Western regions. Mama kits remain an essential requirement for safe deliveries, and this initiative is a critical step toward reducing maternal mortality and supporting Uganda’s healthcare system.

Voices from the Launch

At the launch event, a distinguished panel that included Andrew Kabuura (Head of Broadcast, Next Media), Dr. Amuri Nakigozi (CEO, Ritz Medical Centre), Mr. Emmanuel Ainebyoona (Head Communications, Ministry of Health), Julius Mucuguzi (Head of Public Relations, Electoral Commission), Allan Tumushabe (CEO, Betpawa), Morris Onapa (CEO, High Media), and Major Milton Kanyanya (Head Key Accounts, Nec Uzima Ltd) discussed the urgent need to prioritize maternal health and strengthen corporate social responsibility.

  • Ian Rumanyika, Chairman, Corporate Games Uganda
“We lose 16 to 19 women every day in Uganda due to maternal-related causes. This run is dedicated to saving those lives. With the support of 45 corporate companies under Corporate Games, we will ensure this cause reaches mothers in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan and western region.”
  • Dr. Amuri Nakigozi, CEO, Ritz Medical Centre
“Uganda has reduced maternal deaths by nearly 50% in the last five years. However, challenges remain, especially access to mama kits and emergency services. Ritz Medical will continue to provide ambulances and essential supplies to support this cause.”
  • Emmanuel Ainebyoona, Head Communications, Ministry of Health
“This initiative is timely and complements our efforts in promoting antenatal visits and safe deliveries. When mothers lack mama kits, they are discouraged from seeking health services. The Corporate Run helps address this gap.”
  • Andrew Kabuura, Next Media (NBS Sport)
“For us, sportsmanship goes hand in hand with humanity. Losing mothers and children is a loss to our nation’s workforce. That is why we stand with the Corporate Run because this is a noble cause.”

  • Julius Mucunguzi, Head of Public Relations, Electoral Commission
“Themes of this nature rally people around what truly matters. Mothers must deliver safely, and initiatives like this are rallying points for every Ugandan to put in maximum effort. We are committing to buy 100 kits, and we hope to go beyond the run in addressing critical issues that will change lives.”
  • Major Milton Kanyanya, Head Key Accounts, NEC Uzima Ltd
“Uzima means life. This initiative is about saving lives and ensuring safe deliveries. We are making Uzima available at all running points as part of our activities to give back to the community.”
  • Allan Tumushabe, CEO, BetPawa
“We take noble causes very seriously. As part of our commitment, BetPawa has contributed 200 mama kits. For us, participation in such initiatives goes beyond sport, it is about a player.”
  • Morris Onapa, CEO, High Media
“At High Media, we specialize in telling stories through creativity in photography and videography. We will capture the participation of everyone involved in this run so that these issues remain in the public conversation.”
