Housing Finance Bank is strengthening its presence in Hoima as growing economic activity in the Bunyoro sub-region drives demand for housing, agricultural and business financing.
The bank made the commitment after engaging customers and stakeholders in Hoima on September 4, 2026, in a forum focused on understanding changing financial needs and improving access to banking services. HFB published its account of the engagement on September 7, making the development one of the bank’s latest regional initiatives.
The engagement brought together bank officials, customers and local stakeholders at a time when Hoima is experiencing increased commercial activity and investment. The discussions focused on how financial institutions can respond to the needs of households, farmers, micro-businesses and small and medium enterprises seeking capital to expand their activities.

Omuhikirwa Andrew Byakutaga, the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, attended the engagement as Guest of Honour. He called on the bank to make financing more accessible to people in the region, particularly those seeking to develop homes, secure land and invest in agriculture.
Byakutaga also encouraged greater support for agricultural communities, arguing that improved access to financing would help residents participate in the economic opportunities emerging across Bunyoro.

Ivan Kituuka, HFB’s Head of Distribution and Alternative Channels, said the bank was using feedback from customers to improve its products and services in the region.
The engagement gave customers an opportunity to raise concerns about access to credit, banking services and the financing of their businesses and development projects. HFB said the feedback would inform efforts to simplify its lending processes and improve products available to customers.
Housing finance remains a major part of the bank’s offering in Hoima. HFB is promoting mortgage lending and incremental housing loans for customers who prefer to develop their homes in stages. The bank is also expanding financing for small businesses, micro-enterprises, assets and agricultural activities. The broader product range is intended to respond to customers whose financial needs extend beyond traditional mortgage lending.
The bank’s Hoima branch operates from the Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Memorial Building, where customers have access to services covering housing finance and business-related lending.
