Corporate Games Uganda held its 4th CEO Corporate Games Outing of the season on Sunday, 12 July 2026, at Jeph International University grounds in Butabika, bringing together corporate leaders and employees from across the country for a day focused on sport, wellness, networking and social impact.
The outing provided an opportunity for corporate teams to step away from their usual office routines and boardroom engagements into a shared environment designed to encourage teamwork, physical activity and stronger relationships across different industries.
Beyond the sporting activities, the event highlighted the growing importance of workplace wellness initiatives in addressing lifestyle-related health challenges, including non-communicable diseases, while creating opportunities for organisations to connect, collaborate and promote healthier lifestyles among their employees.
During the event, Corporate Games Uganda officially launched the Corporate Run, a non-profit initiative aimed at supporting maternal healthcare across Uganda. Running under the theme “Run for Expectant Mothers,” the initiative is scheduled to take place on 11 October 2026 in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
The Corporate Run seeks to raise funds towards the procurement and distribution of mama kits, valued at UGX 30,000 each, for expectant mothers receiving care at selected Health Centre IIIs in underserved communities. The initiative will also support efforts to construct and renovate maternity wards, helping improve access to safer maternal healthcare services across the country.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Guest Josephine Okui Ossiya emphasised the importance of creating spaces where employees can prioritise their health and wellbeing through engagement activities outside the workplace.
“We work hard, we also play hard, and we have lots of fun. It’s great for my team to be out here, to take a break from the everyday work, to relax, and to learn good behaviour and good exercise,” she said.
She also welcomed the introduction of new sporting disciplines during the CEO Corporate Games Outing, including archery, noting the excitement and engagement it brought to participants.
“We’ve officially launched many games, for example the archery. It’s very exciting when you hit the target,” she added.
Corporate Games Uganda Chairman Ian Rumanyika called on organisations across the country to participate in the Corporate Run and support efforts aimed at improving maternal health outcomes.
“The Corporate Run is more than a race, it is a call to action. Every kilometre covered brings us closer to a Uganda where no mother loses her life while giving life. We are inviting corporates across the country to join us, not just as participants, but as partners in this cause,” he said.
The CEO Corporate Games Outing continues to demonstrate the role of sport as a powerful platform for workplace wellness, employee engagement and community impact. Through initiatives such as the Corporate Run, Corporate Games Uganda is giving organisations an opportunity to combine employee participation with support for critical national priorities, including improving maternal healthcare for communities in need.
