Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Launches International Banking

Standard Chartered Bank Uganda unveiled its latest offering, International Banking (IB), during a milestone event this week.

This launch marks a significant move for the bank as it extends its services to provide Ugandan clients access to global banking products and services, including those available in international financial centers such as the UAE and the UK.

Sanjay Rughani, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, highlighted the importance of this launch, stating, “The introduction of IB in Uganda signifies our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our valued clients. By offering access to global financial opportunities, we aim to position our clients for sustained success on the international stage.”

Emphasizing the bank’s dedication to the Ugandan market, Rughani reiterated, “This launch aligns seamlessly with our ‘Here for Good’ brand promise. As the only international bank offering both retail and corporate banking, along with our extensive heritage and global network, Standard Chartered is well-placed to play a prominent role in this market.”

Paul Sefa-Badu, Head of Consumer, Private, and Business Banking at Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, expressed enthusiasm for the benefits IB services will deliver to clients. He noted, “Our International Banking services provide clients with recognition of their international status, opportunities to grow wealth internationally, and the convenience of seamless banking through features such as multi-currency account opening and global fund transfers.”

Highlighting the significance of this development, Hon. Jeje Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, commended Standard Chartered Uganda for launching International Banking.

He emphasized the importance of sophisticated investment solutions and seamless overseas banking for Ugandan clients, urging the bank to continue providing relevant, customized products to support local and international business development.

With this launch, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda aims to empower clients to navigate the global financial landscape with confidence and ease, unlocking unprecedented opportunities for wealth diversification and investment growth.
