Steel & Tube Industries Ltd has been recognised with two awards at the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF) 2026, organised by the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA).

The company won Best Sector Exhibitor in the Building, Construction and Housing Technology category and received an Appreciation Award as an In-Kind Partner of this year’s fair.

The Best Sector Exhibitor award acknowledges Steel & Tube’s strong performance in the building and construction segment, while the Appreciation Award recognises the company’s support for the 32nd edition of Uganda’s flagship trade exhibition.

Regina Namuwonge, Director of Operations at Steel & Tube Industries Ltd, said the company’s approach during the ten-day event was straightforward. “You buy from the people who make and distribute the goods at the most affordable price,” she said. “Every offer, every discount, is priced for the Ugandans who consume.”

She also highlighted the collaborative nature of the fair. “A trade fair of this size is carried by many hands. There are many players in this trade fair, and we thank the various ministerial bodies and agencies who support us behind it. With that, I would like to thank our partners and sponsors.”

During the fair, the Steel & Tube team showcased a Ugandan-made trailer to Hon. Sanjay Tanna, Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. The display underscored the company’s focus on local manufacturing and value addition in the construction and related sectors.

UGITF remains Uganda’s premier annual trade fair, bringing together manufacturers, traders, service providers and buyers from across the country and beyond to showcase products and build business relationships. The event continues to serve as an important platform for local firms seeking to expand their market presence and strengthen commercial ties.

Steel & Tube Industries Ltd has built its reputation as a key supplier of steel products for Uganda’s construction industry. The twin awards come at a time when local manufacturers continue to face challenges ranging from high energy costs and logistics expenses to competition from cheaper imports. Firms that maintain competitive pricing and reliable supply remain better placed to retain market share.

The recognition also reflects the growing importance of in-kind support and active participation by manufacturers in national trade platforms. By contributing to the fair’s organisation and presenting its products directly to buyers and policymakers, Steel & Tube reinforced its position within the building and construction value chain.

Ms Namuwonge expressed appreciation to the Uganda Manufacturers Association for the awards, as well as to the company’s customers, partners and staff for their continued support.

The 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair once again demonstrated the role of local industry in driving economic activity. For Steel & Tube, the twin honours provide public validation of its efforts to supply affordable, locally produced materials to the Ugandan market while remaining an active partner in the country’s manufacturing ecosystem.
