The Rotary Club of Kampala, historically recognized as the “Grand Arch Club” of Rotary in Uganda, today officially ushered in a new era of community leadership. The landmark milestone event marked the formal handover of leadership from outgoing President Jackie Ayuya to the incoming 70th President, Shem Nnaggenda Nsubuga, alongside the inauguration of the incoming 70th Board.

This leadership transition arrives at a historic juncture as the club navigates a year celebrating decades of profound, life-changing service in Uganda, a legacy culminating as the country approaches 2027.

The official handover highlighted the extensive community impact achieved under the outgoing regime. Reflecting on the milestones achieved during her tenure, Past President Jackie Ayuya noted:
“Handing over the mantle today fills me with immense pride. Over the past year, our team worked tirelessly to build on the legacy of the Grand Arch Club. We have solidified a foundation of deep community transformation. Our impact has centered heavily on executing vital local health initiatives, driving sustainable economic development, and providing the bedrock for long-term national growth. This extensive record of service is ready to be advanced by the next generation of leadership.”
As a cornerstone of Africa’s fastest-growing Rotary country, the Rotary Club of Kampala enters its 70th year backed by seven decades of community transformation.

District Governor Geoffrey Kitakule commended the club, saying:
“The Rotary Club of Kampala continues to be a shining beacon of service across our district. As they celebrate this profound impact, the installation of this 70th Board sets a benchmark for leadership, continuity, and visionary community development in Uganda.”
Today’s installation ceremony serves as the official launchpad for ‘777’, an ambitious strategic roadmap designed to guide the new board’s community-driven initiatives into the club’s next 30 years and toward its centennial anniversary.
The strategy focuses on three core pillars:
- 70 New Quality Members
- 70 New Projects
- $70,000 Fundraising Goal

Reflecting on the mission beginning today, newly installed President Shem Nnaggenda Nsubuga shared:

“Behind every number in Strategy 777 is a human story children receiving education, families gaining access to clean water, mothers receiving healthcare, young people acquiring skills, communities finding hope. We have a divine opportunity this Platinum Year to dream, serve, and make a difference. I pledge to use every gift God has entrusted to me to serve this club faithfully, preserve its proud legacy, and leave it stronger than I found it.”
