Beatrice Lugalambi, one of Centenary Bank’s senior executives, is set to leave the lender for Pride Bank, where she is expected to take up the position of Executive Director, according to people familiar with the move.
Lugalambi currently serves as Centenary Bank’s General Manager for Corporate Communications and Marketing, a position she has held since 2019 after previously leading the bank’s Business Development and Marketing function. Her expected move would take her from heading a major customer-facing and corporate function at Centenary to a broader executive management role at Pride Bank.
The development comes as Uganda’s banking industry continues to see senior executives move across institutions as lenders compete for customers, expand digital services and strengthen their business and relationship management capabilities.
Lugalambi has spent more than a decade at Centenary, where her responsibilities have extended beyond communications and brand management. Before taking up her current position, she was involved in business development and marketing, giving her experience across both commercial and corporate-facing functions.
She joined Centenary after earlier roles at Barclays Bank and Bank of Africa. Her career has included work across corporate banking, business development, marketing, customer engagement and communications. She holds an MBA from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). At Centenary, Lugalambi has been a visible representative of the bank at major business, community and partnership engagements.
In July 2026, she represented Centenary at the launch of the Kaliisoliiso road safety initiative at Nkozi Hospital, where the bank announced a Shs100 million contribution towards an Accident and Trauma Centre. The contribution was part of a three-year partnership between Centenary Bank, CBS and the Buganda Kingdom valued at Shs280 million.
She has also been associated with the bank’s work around digital financial services and customer engagement as Centenary expanded its mobile banking, internet banking and agency banking offerings. Her public profile has extended beyond banking. In June 2026, Lugalambi was installed as President of the Rotary Club of Muyenga for the 2026/2027 Rotary year, adding another leadership responsibility to her professional portfolio.
The move to Pride Bank would give Lugalambi responsibility at a broader level, bringing together her experience in banking, business development, customer relations, marketing and corporate communications.
For Pride Bank, the appointment would come at a time when Uganda’s financial sector is undergoing continued changes in how banks attract and retain customers, deliver services digitally and compete for businesses and households. Pride Bank, which focuses on financial inclusion and serving micro, small and medium enterprises alongside retail customers, has continued to operate in a market where customer experience, technology and access to finance are increasingly important areas of competition.
Lugalambi’s background across both commercial and customer-facing functions could therefore be relevant to the bank’s wider executive agenda if the appointment is confirmed. Centenary Bank has not publicly announced her departure or named a successor to her current position.
The timing of the transition has also not been formally communicated, although sources familiar with the development indicate that Lugalambi is expected to complete the move before the end of October.
If confirmed, the appointment will mark a new phase in Lugalambi’s banking career, moving from a senior functional leadership position at Centenary to an executive role with responsibility extending beyond marketing and communications. The development also leaves Centenary facing a transition in one of its key corporate functions as the bank prepares to determine who will take over the communications and marketing portfolio.
