Uganda’s preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 have entered a new phase, with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) inviting qualified local businesses to register for supplier pre-qualification ahead of a major procurement exercise expected later this year.
The call, announced in a press briefing on Wednesday by Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba, Chairperson of the LOC Communications and Promotion Sub-Committee, opens the door for Ugandan companies seeking to provide goods and services for one of Africa’s biggest sporting events. Businesses that successfully complete the pre-qualification process will be eligible to participate in the LOC’s tendering process when it begins between September and October 2026.
The move marks one of the first major commercial opportunities linked to Uganda’s co-hosting of AFCON PAMOJA 2027, with contracts expected to span multiple sectors critical to delivering the continental football tournament.
According to the LOC, the current exercise is a Request for Information (RFI) aimed at building a database of capable suppliers. The registration window closes at the end of July 2026, although the committee says it reserves the right to extend the deadline if necessary.
At the continental level, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to launch its own public Request for Proposals (RFP) in the first week of August 2026. Those procurements will cover services managed directly by CAF across the PAMOJA host nations.
The Uganda LOC is seeking suppliers across a broad range of categories, reflecting the scale and complexity of hosting the tournament. These include hospitality and catering, transport and logistics, ICT, media and communications, digital production, event management, branding, medical services, safety and security, consultancy, documentary production, fan zone and park management, souvenir manufacturing, and office supplies, among others.
To qualify for inclusion in the supplier database, companies must meet several compliance requirements. The LOC says applicants must be legally registered in Uganda, registered with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA), financially sound, tax compliant, and free from litigation or records of non-performance.
Only businesses that successfully complete the pre-qualification process will be invited to bid once formal tenders are issued later this year.
The committee also clarified that not all procurement related to AFCON PAMOJA 2027 will be handled by the Uganda LOC. Certain tournament-wide services, including ticketing and television broadcasting, will be procured directly by CAF through centralized contracts covering all PAMOJA host countries.
Similarly, procurement for infrastructure projects and services being implemented by other Ugandan Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will remain under the responsibility of those respective government entities rather than the LOC.
The LOC emphasized that supplier registration is free of charge, encouraging businesses to take advantage of the opportunity and beware of anyone requesting payment to facilitate registration.
With Uganda preparing to co-host one of Africa’s largest sporting events, the supplier pre-qualification exercise represents an early opportunity for local businesses to position themselves for contracts expected to support tournament operations across logistics, hospitality, communications, security, and event delivery.
Interested businesses can register through the official AFCON PAMOJA supplier portal before the current registration window closes at the end of July.
